The biggest mystery about great missing movie portraits may be the "before" portrait of Hurd Hatfield in "The Picture of Dorian Gray" painted by Henrique Medina. It seems to have disappeared after Hatfield's death in 1998. The more famous "after" portrait by Ivan Albright is at the Art Institute of Chicago, and is a mind-blower in person.

Wow, that I'd love to see. I had the privilege of visiting Forry Ackerman a couple months before he passed away... and there was the actual "after" sculpted head from the movie... just casually sitting on a shelf in his living room! There were a few million other astounding items as well.
